Clubs (leave all unticked for every club)How to use the random footballer generator
- Tick one or more clubs, or leave them all unticked to draw from every Premier League squad.
- Tick positions if you only want, say, goalkeepers or forwards.
- Choose how many players you need and press Pick random player.
- Tick Hide the club to turn each pick into a question: say the club, then press “Reveal club”.
Every name comes from the current 2026/27 Premier League squads as listed by Fantasy Premier League, so this random football player generator never gives you a retired player or someone who has left the league.
Ideas for using random players
- Guess the club: hide the club, draw ten players and see who in the room gets the most right. It is harder than it sounds once you get past the famous names.
- Five-a-side draft: draw ten forwards and take turns picking them for your dream team.
- FPL differentials: filter one club and a position to discover squad players you had forgotten about.
- Kids' football: each player in training gets a random pro to copy for the session.
- Career-mode challenge: in EA FC, sign the random player you drew, whatever the price.
How the draw works
The tool filters the squad list by the clubs and positions you choose, then shuffles the matching players with your browser's cryptographic random number generator and takes the first few. Every matching player has the same chance, and a single draw never repeats a name. The line above the tool shows how many players are in the list and when it was last refreshed.
Squads change in the transfer windows. The list is refreshed from FPL whenever the site is updated, which means new signings can take a short while to appear.
How we tested it
We checked the downloaded list: 20 clubs, every player linked to one of them, every player with one of the four positions and a name. We tested the club and position filters on real data (for example, the goalkeeper filter returned only goalkeepers), ran 300 draws of 25 players and confirmed none contained a repeat, and checked that asking for more players than match the filters returns all of them and no more.
Frequently asked questions
Where does the player list come from?
From the official Fantasy Premier League player list for the 2026/27 season, refreshed when the site is updated. It covers every player registered in a Premier League squad, apart from players FPL lists as having left their club.
Why can't I find a player who just transferred?
The list is a snapshot from the date shown above the tool. A January signing appears after the next refresh. Players who left the Premier League are removed at the same time.
Can I get the same player twice?
Not in one draw. When you ask for several players, each name appears at most once. Press the button again for a completely new draw.
How do positions work?
Positions are the four FPL categories: goalkeeper, defender, midfielder and forward. FPL decides them before the season, so a winger may be listed as a midfielder or a forward.
Does it include other leagues or retired players?
No, only current Premier League squads, so every name is a real player you can look up this season. For a game with legends, try Who am I?.
